1 Bargain hunting: The annual Greenwood Community Wide Yard Sale event sponsored by the Greenwood Democrat will be held in Greenwood on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors come from all over the state to bargain hunt for knick knacks, tools and antiques.
2 Street dinner: The Garrison Gatsby is the 2017 theme of a new event and fundraiser located in downtown Fort Smith. The inaugural event will be held on Saturday at Cisterna Park, which is located along Garrison Avenue. Garrison Gatsby is made possible through the combined efforts of the Fort Smith Downtown Business Association‘s Executive Committee, devoted members and generous sponsors. The street dinner features a diverse range of international cuisines that include appetizers, entrees, and a variety of desserts from participating downtown restaurants. The drink menu offers premium wines from Arkansas Wine Country, local craft brews and Arkansas/Oklahoma-brewed varieties, a variety of bourbons, locally distilled vodka, high-quality coffees, and a variety of teas. Live entertainment will be provided by jazz saxophonist, Don Bailey, and the Tabitha Graves Quartet, along with special performances by the Community School of the Arts. General admission tickets are $45 with the VIP skylounge going for $145. All proceeds support the volunteer efforts of the Fort Smith Downtown Business Association (@GoDowntownFS) and the following partnering non-profit organizations: Riverview Hope Campus, Community School of the Arts, STEPS Family Resource Center.
3 Country legend: Country music platinum recording artist Mark Chesnutt is set to headline the Cox Community Concert with special guests Shooter Jennings and Cody Canada & The Departed at the Riverfront Park in Fort Smith Friday, Sept. 15. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the music starts at 6 p.m. Twelve thousand free tickets are now available at any Arkansas Cox Solution Store. Tickets are first come, first served and are complimentary with the donation of two non-perishable food items per ticket; limit of four tickets at the time of the request. Tickets are required for entry into the concert the exception of children ages 3 and under. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the performance as no seating will be provided. No food or drinks from outside the gate will be allowed on the premises.
