1 See a play: Driving Miss Daisy will be performed at the Alma Performing Arts Center in Alma at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday. Starring in the production are Clarence Gilyard of Walker, Texas Ranger and Matlock and Sheree J. Wilson of Walker, Texas Ranger and Dallas. Driving Miss Daisy is a timeless piece about diversity, friendship, and a developed understanding of one another in times of change. Set against a backdrop of changing world events between 1948 and 1973, a fiesty Southern widow and her proud but soft-spoken black chauffeur journey from suspicion and mistrust to respect and deep-rooted affection. 2 Wander Wagon Road: On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Mount Magazine State Park is offering the Wagon Road Wander. Meet at Will Apple’s Road Trailhead near Visitor Center. Spring begins to show itself with the slightest drop in elevation. Search for butterflies, birds, and flowers along an old wagon road. Admission is free. 3 Make art: Every Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum studio at 1601 Robers Avenue, there is a casual make and take program. Every Saturday will be a fun hands-on exploration of a new medium or type of art! Participants will experiment with techniques and materials in the RAM studio and have the opportunity to make their own original works of art. This program is free and for all ages. Please wear art-making clothing. On Saturday the focus is wire art.
4 See a concert: Country group BlackHawk will play a free concert at Gilley’s inside the Choctaw Casino at 3400 Choctaw Road in Pocola, Okla., on Saturday at 10 ap.m. BlackHawk’s 1993 self-titled Arista debut album launched with the smash single “Goodbye Says It All”, followed by the Top 5 hits “Every Once in a While”, “I Sure Can Smell the Rain”, “Down in Flames” and “That’s Just About Right”. The album soon certified double-platinum, and the band received an ACM nomination as Best New Vocal Group Of The Year. You must be 21 or over to attend.
