Here are a few of the things going on in the area in coming days.

1 Junior rodeo: The South Logan County Fair Board is sponsoring a junior rodeo on Friday and Saturday. The junior rodeo, which will feature three classes of competitors — 7 and under, 8 to 13 and 14 to 19 — will begin at 7 p.m. each night at the South Logan County Fairgrounds, located on Highway 23, three miles south of Booneville. The 7 and under cowboys and cowgirls will be competing in mutton busting, goat undercoating, pole bending, barrel racing and barrel pickup. Those 8 to 13 will be competing in calf riding, goat undercoating, pole bending, breakaway roping, team roping, barrel racing, barrel pickup and steer riding. The 14- to 19-year olds will be competing in goat tying, pole bending, breakaway roping, team roping, barrel racing, barrel pickup, bull riding, saddle bronc and bareback. There will also be 50/50 raffles each night with proceeds benefiting the Booneville FFA on Friday night and the Magazine FFA on Saturday night. Admission to the rodeo will be $6 per person except anyone under 4, who will be admitted free.

2 Fun run: For a wild woodland challenge, the 8th annual Arkansas Ultra Running Association adventure will traverse 18 miles on most of the trails in Mount Magazine State Park. 3 See the symphony: The Fort Smith Symphony and its music director, John Jeter, will present their Hometown Greatness: The Music of Florence Price concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center, 55 South Seventh Sreet. The event will be the final concert of the symphony’s 2017-18 performance season and will salute composer Florence Price, who lived from 1887 to 1953, said Jeter. Price is a pioneering composer who harbors deep Arkansas roots. Tickets range from $17 to $45 and can be purchased at www.fortsmithsymphony.org. Admission also is by 2017-18 season ticket. 4 Free show: Brian McKnight will perform a free show (with Rewards Club card) at Centerstage inside the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Pocola, Okla., at 8 p.m. Saturday. The show is brought to you by Table Games.
