The Corley-Mountain Rural Fire Department will present its annual Firehawk Firefighter Challenge fund raiser on Saturday, May 3 at the Logan County Fairgrounds in Paris.

There is no charge for admission. Along with the firefighter challenge events, there will also be a silent auction and bake sale with items donated by individuals and local businesses.

Raffle tickets are also available for a Mossberg 535 shotgun. Chances will be sold for the shotgun during the day of the event. The drawing will be held at the conclusion of the events and the winner must be able to pass a background check.

A meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal is $7 per plate for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The meal will be a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, cole slaw, drinks and desserts.

Firefighter teams from area fire departments will compete for the title of 2014 FireHawk Firefighter Challenge champions. The winning team will receive a championship trophy which will be presented at the conclusion of the day’s events.

Challenge events will begin at 10 a.m. and will continue into the afternoon. The challenge events include donning protective equipment, search and rescue, hose roll and the water bucket battle.

Fire trucks and other firefighting equipment will be on display for children and adults to explore. The event will go on, rain or shine.

Candidates for local and county office have also been invited to attend.

The Logan County Fairgrounds in Paris is locted on Highway 22, east of downtown and next to the Paris-Subiaco Municipal Airport.
