One Fort Smith resident predicted that everyone will be "green" and wearing a smile Saturday in downtown Fort Smith.
The 2014 Garrison Avenue Pub Crawl will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday at participating downtown bars and restaurants and is expected to draw the interest of thousands of local residents and out-of-town visitors alike, said Bill Neumeier, owner of Papa’s Pub & Pizzaria.
Venues participating in the 22nd annual event include Papa’s, Varsity Sports Grill, Webby D’s, Bravo Italian Restaurant, Arlie Muck’s Tavern, Kinkead’s, Old Town Grain & Feed Co., Hero’s Food and Spirits, Rooster’s Bar and Grill, R. Landry’s New Orleans Cafe and La Huerta Mexican Restaurant, among others, he said.
"It’s going to be a really fun thing to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, with Cadillac Jackson playing at 7 p.m. at Webby D’s," Neumeier said. "We also have Arlie Muck participating for the first time this year, so it’s going to be something new and better."
Participating venues will sell commemorative cups for $5, which allows the cup holder to purchase $2 22-ounce drafts, he said. The event, which is held to provide participants with a "fun" evening while simultaneously promoting the downtown Fort Smith area, will include various other food and drink specials, Neumeier said.
"People will see an Irish band and maybe a leprechaun on Bravo’s patio, and a lot of other venues will be doing their own thing for this, as well," he said.
"And it’s fun because we get a lot of traffic from Fayetteville," Neumeier added. "This is Fort Smith’s Pub Crawl – and great St. Patrick’s celebration – and it’s good that we get a lot of people from out of town to join us. It’s going to be a fun time that people definitely won’t want to miss."
