Barnhill Studios of Paris presented their spring recital on Saturday, May 18 at the Paris Middle School Auditorium. The theme for the recital was "Footloose in the Fifties" and featured "Ms. Taylor’s Dance", "Batons’R’ Us", "Cheer Up", and "Stars of Tomorrow".
Each performer was introduced to the audience, they then joined together for the opening recital number, which featured all performers dancing to "Footloose".
Shayla Hofmann was honored with an 8 year award, Rachel Crow was honored with a 7 year award, Sarah Baumgartner was honored with a 6 year award, and Charly Beth Frederick was honored with a 5 year award.
"Ms. Taylor’s Dance" advanced students Brooklynn Bodin, Madison Clampoli, Elizabeth Corley, Elizabeth Durning, Charly Beth Frederick and Savannah Sisson presented dances to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Burning Love". Students Alison Biggs, Kaylee Biggs, Kymber Carter, Abby Crandall, Riley Floren, Brooklyn Hice, Annabelle Jaggers, Bailee Jones, Ileigh Love, Haleigh Mayfield, Jacey Omara, Atley Pettigrew, Callie Scott, Elly Strobel, Kylie Thompson, and Belle Wickizer danced to "Rock Around the Clock" and "Can’t Help Falling In Love". Dance classes are under the instruction of Taylor Mertin.
"Batons’R’ Us" twirlers Rachel Crow, and Shayla Hofmann, performed a baton twirling routine to "Greased Lightning". Twirlers Sarah Baumgartner, Annabelle Jaggers, Erica Rogers, and Haley Rogers, presented baton twirling routines to "Hound Dog" and "Rock-N- Roll Is Here To Stay". Both groups joined together and performed a dance to "Shake a Tail Feather". Baton twirling classes are under the instruction of Cassey Trusty.
"Cheer Up" members Alison Biggs, Kaylee Biggs, Trinity Bull, Victoria Bullock, Kadan Case, Richdan Case, Khya Fowler, Kendrally Fox, Ashton Ihle, Alex Kuykendall, LaDana Thomas, Seleena Thomas, Tajreana Thomas, and Erica Wardropper performed a tumbling routine to "Rubberneckin", showed enthusiasm during their "Cheer and Shout" pompoms cheer, and did a dance to "Blue Suede Shoes". These cheer students are under the instruction of Cortney Barnhill.
"Stars of Tomorrow" performer, Karsyn Tencleve, entertained the audience with "Big Dreams", "Jesus Take the Wheel", "Picture To Burn", and "Can’t Hurry Love". Stars of Tomorrow instructor is Paula Barnhill.
The recital was concluded with a final bow by all performers as the music "Footloose" played in the background.
