The Carl Albert State College Dancers Club recently held their Hillbilly Vegas concert as a community fundraiser, according to a news release from the college. Admission to the performance was free, but club members accepted donations to benefit the community as well, the release states.
Cash donations were given to the Pansy Kidd Middle School in Poteau to help with various student activities, the release states. The cash amount raised was around $60-$65, according to Judi White, CASC director of public relations/marketing.
Forty to 50 cans of nonperishable food and another two boxes of dry goods were also collected during the concert. Those items were split between the Blessing Boxes located on campus and the food bank operated by Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, the release states.
