Clayton Conversations to discuss local play

Brandon Goldsmith will discuss his play, "The Western District," during the Clayton Conversations program at 1 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Clayton House, 514 N. Sixth St. The play discusses when the Western District Court of Arkansas was moved from Van Buren to the area that is now occupied by 21 West End in Fort Smith. Admission is free for Fort Smith Historical Foundation members and $10 for non-members.

Learn about opioid use in the workplace

The next Poteau Chamber of Commerce Lunch and learn event will be held from 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center, 105 Reynolds Ave. in Poteau. The topic will be opioid use in the workplace.

Lego coming to Little Rock

The BrickUniverse Lego Fan Convention will be held Oct. 27-28 at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock. The event will include displays by professional Lego artist Jonathan Lopes, building areas, retail merchandise, Star Wars and Challenge zones and much more.

Miller Branch Library plans Pirate Party

A Pirate Party and Storytime will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Miller Branch of the Fort Smith Public Library.  The program will feature pirate stories and silly pirate songs, followed by pirate-themed crafts, games and snacks.

Crawford County libraries to host October events

The Crawford County Library System will host various programs throughout October at its respective libraries in Van Buren, Alma, Cedarville, Mountainburg and Mulberry. Spider-Web Painting at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16, Altered Book Art at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 22-23, Teen Cooking at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and Scary Stories at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 31, all at the Van Buren library, 1409 Main St. in Van Buren. The Adults and Seniors Yogo program will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 1 and be followed by seven sessions at the Cedarville library, 737 Pirates Way in Cedarville, which also will host the Story Time with Ms. Lara program at 10 a.m. Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31. The Book Club program and the Inspiration Book Club will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 and at 10 a.m. Oct. 5, respectively, at the Ralph D. Graf Library, 220 N. Main St. in Mulberry. These will be among many programs offered by the Crawford County Library System.
