The Lady Eagles Volleyball Booster Club is going to honor the Paris High School Lady Eagles Volleyball team at a banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27 at the First National Bank Community Center.

The volleyball team won its second straight 3A State Championship late last year.

The event will include a meal, a silent auction and a drawing for a Taurus PT-111 Millennium Pro G2 9mm hand gun. Tickets to the event are $20 each and can be purchased by contacting Sarah Simmons, Jaime Jackson, Jenn Kury, Heather Johnson, Jennifer Owen or Chrissy Knoles. The keynote speaker will be Jason Watson, coach of the University of Arkansas Women’s Volleyball team.

Jackson said proceeds from the event will be used to help pay for championship rings for the team.

“Last year, the school district paid half of the cost of state championship rings and the booster club paid half,” Jackson said. “We have no confirmation of that this year, but that’s what we’re hoping happens. We’d like to raise enough to pay half the cost of the rings.”

Team members will be presented with state championship rings at the event, Jackson said.

“I don’t know if we’ve set an amount to raise,” Jackson said. “I do know the rings cost $9,000 — not that we’re trying to raise that, but we’d like to pay half.”

The banquet is also a way to honor coaches and the team.

“First and foremost,” Jackson said, “this is a congratulations event. We want to congratulate these coaches and players. They deserve it.”

The menu for dinner consist of beef brisket, French gratin potatoes, green beans, argula salad, homemade bread and white chocolate mousse.

Jackson said organizers are hoping to attract 250 people.
