Amy Trusty of Paris has been named the Tourism Person of the Year for Logan County. Trusty was given the award when the Arkansas River Valley Tri-Peaks Tourism Association held its Annual Membership Awards Celebration and Banquet at the Heifer Ranch in Perryville on Tuesday, April 11.
Trusty was given the award for her work on the annual Frontier Day Pageant and the annual Miss Paris Pageant, according to Paris Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tonya Baumgartner, who nominated her.
“She has volunteered her time for 15 years to direct two pageants for the chamber,” Baumgartner said. “Probably more than half of those contestants come from outside our community. That brings in their families and friends when the pageants are held.”
Trusty is also a member of the PACC Board of Directors, serving as secretary.
“She works very hard to make those pageants successful,” Baumgartner said. “I don’t think anyone adequately appreciates the amount of time she devotes to these events. It’s several hundred hours for each pageant. It’s a labor of love for her and she does a great job. It shows.”
Perry County Tri-Peaks Board Member Doug Bandon with Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, served as the presenting speaker for the evening.
