Velda Oleata Carpenter, 94, of Ozark died Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Ozark.
She was a homemaker and member of Roseville Baptist Church.
She was born March 13, 1923 in Paris to Dewey and Ida Holzman Gattis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Carpenter; a brother, Roger, a sister-in-law, Louise Gattis, and a son-in-law, CG “Pete” Barton.
Oleata is survived by a son, Richard Carpenter and wife Charlotte of Ozark; three daughters, Sharon Barton of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Karon Chrisman and husband Marshall of Ozark, and Gena O’Neal and husband Tim of Branch; two brothers, Bill Gattis and wife Hilda, Guy Gattis and wife Camilla all of Ozark; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian, Taylor, Mike, Brent, Roger Don, Shawn, and Steve Gattis.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clyde Vire officiating and burial at Carpenter Cemetery in Ozark under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
