With the start of the 2017-18 school year about three weeks away, the Paris School District will host a two-day registration event next week.
The registration event will take place at the Paris High School cafeteria on Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, Aug. 1. It is for both new and returning students.
The event is an opportunity for parents and students to fill out paperwork often required at the beginning of a new school year, including updating addresses and phone numbers, medical information, transportation information, and the like. Providing that information at the event will reduce the amount of paperwork sent home the first week of school, officials said. The new school year opens Monday, Aug. 14.
At the event, parents and guardians will also be able to get Home Access Center information and class supply lists.
Registration begins Monday, July 31 at 9 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. for children of Paris School District staff and children of school board members. From 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. parents or guardians of high school students can attend. One parent or guardian and the high school student are asked to attend this session.
On Tuesday, Aug. 2, registration begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. for parents or guardians of middle school or elementary school students. Families of pre-Kindergarten students can turn in paperwork at this time.
All students will get their schedules and find out who their home room teacher is. Students can’t get schedules without a parent or guardian completing the registration process.
There will be nightly drawings for $50 gift cards.
Families who can’t attend registration will get their student’s schedule during open house events. Open house will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8 for Paris High School students. Open house will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. for Paris Middle School students and from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. for Paris Elementary School students.
