The Paris Police Department continues to make more drug arrests this year than last, however, the number of drug charges filed in September were lower than last September, according to statistics released by the department.

In September, the Paris PD filed 21 drug related charges compared to 31 charges in September 2016. Through nine months of 2017, the Paris PD has filed 348 drug related charges compared to 271 through the first nine months of 2016.

According to the statistics for September, PPD officers filed 12 charges of possession of drug paraphernalia in, the most drug related charges listed. PPD officers filed three charges of possession less than four ounces of a schedule VI narcotic, two charges each of possession of less than two grams of methamphetamine and possession of less than 28 grams of a schedule IV or V narcotic and two charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Also in September, PPD officers filed 17 failure to appear charges, 10 charges of driving on a suspended license, nine charges for non-payment of files, five charges of theft of $1,000 worth of items or less, five charges of failure to provide proof on insurance and four charges of breaking or entering. There were three or fewer charges filed in the other categories listed.
