Vendors are being sought for the annual Taste of Crawford County scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 2, in the cafeteria at Van Buren High School Freshman Academy.

Two sessions are scheduled – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. - for the fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Van Buren and the boys and girls clubs of Alma and Van Buren.

CASA currently is seeking food and non-food vendors to participate in Taste of Crawford County, according to Celeste Lewis, executive director of CASA.

More than 20 food vendors participated in last year’s Taste of Crawford County.

Tickets for Taste of Crawford County will be $10 in advance; $15 at the door.

Taste of Crawford County also will feature a silent auction with close to 60 items, according to TOCC chair Janie Simmons.

The National CASA Association is a network of CASA and guardian ad litem programs that recruit, train and support volunteer advocates in 49 states.

CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. The volunteers watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children.

Last year, more than 76,000 CASA volunteers helped more than 251,000 abused and neglected children find safe, permanent homes.
