Ladies Night Out will take place on Courthouse Square in Paris on Thursday and the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce is planning an expanded event to celebrate the end of summer, according to PACC Executive Director Tonya Baumgartner.

Ladies Night Out will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. and in addition to special sales by merchants, those attending will also see a portion of North Express Street, the part of the street in front of the Municipal Building, turned into a splash pad, Baumgartner said.

“It’s going to be an end of summer splash party,” Baumgartner said. “At 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., the fire department will have fire trucks stationed there and shooting water into the street, making it a big splash pad for the kids. Streets will be closed for the safety of the children and we’re asking parents to bring kids in clothes they don’t mind getting wet in. Water will be sprayed until the trucks run out. The trucks will then go fill up and come back.

“The goal is to have an event that will create some fun downtown,” Baumgartner said. “We want parents to go do some shopping and the kids to have some fun.”

The event will also feature, for the third month in a row, a scavenger hunt. The prize this month is $90, Baumgartner said
