A person was killed in a car crash early Wednesday in LeFlore County.

The deceased person, whose name was not released Wednesday, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday east on U.S. Highway 59, west of Spiro, and struck a 2014 GMC Sierra head-on when he or she veered left of center. The Sierra left the roadway and came to a stop in a ditch in the side of the road, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol news release.

The driver of the Sierra was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was in stable condition with multiple injuries when admitted, the release states.

OHP officials have withheld the name of the deceased driver amid their investigation into the incident, the release states.
