The Subiaco Academy Board of Directors has named Matt Stengel Headmaster of the all-male, Catholic School at Subiaco Abbey.
Stengel, an 1999 graduate of Subiaco Academy, is currently the Assistant Procurator for Subiaco Abbey, a postion he accepted in 2012. Prior to that, Stengel was an economic analyst for ABF Freight System, Inc. in Fort Smith and Administrator of Paris Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Stengel has also served as President of the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2012 and is a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic School Board. The school is located in Paris.
Stengel’s appointment was announced last week by Bill Lux, president of the Subiaco Academy Board of Trustees.
"Matt has tremendous passion for Subiaco Academy, and brings a rare insight into the complexities of the Academy and recognizes the roles that both tradition and 21st century education play in the development of a Subiaco graduate," Lux said. "Moreover, he understands the Academy’s role in producing alumni who will be in service to God, family, and humankind, regardless of their career pursuits. Matt was selected as a result of an extensive nationwide headmaster search. The Board of Trustees would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Academy alumni that assisted in this search."
Stengel said he was excited about the opportunity.
Stengel, his wife Mary and their three children currently live in Caulksville, but will be relocating to the Academy campus.
Stengel replaces Rob Loia, who resigned in June to become Headmaster of Morris Catholic High School in Denville, N.J. He had been at Subiaco Academy since 2010.
