Vera Virginia Hill, age 90 of Sand Springs, passed from this life Saturday, March 18, 2017 at home.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; O.Z. and wife Margie Baker, sister; Nadine Baker, grandson; John Earl Blansett.
Vera was born Oct. 27, 1926 in Paris, to Manuel and Doshee Baker. She graduated from Paris High School and married Earl Hill Feb. 8, 1947 in Paris.
The couple moved to Sand Springs where Vera started work at Frougs Department Store, then later Bells Department Store. Vera then worked for Walmart in the fabric department before retiring. Vera was a member of Lawnwood Freewill Baptist Church for 16 years where she had once served as Sunday School Secretary. She loved quilting, sewing, ceramics and reading.
Celebration of life services were Wednesday, 2 p.m., March 22, 2017 at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service with the Rev. Steve Loveless officiating. Burial was at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, Okla.. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Hill of the home, two daughters; Brenda Sue Ervin and husband Allen of Owasso, Okla., Virginia Gail Southern and husband Randel of Sapulpa, Okla., four grandchildren: Michael Ervin of Tulsa, Okla., Ryan Ervin and wife Linda of Tulsa, Okla., Sharon Elaine Smith and husband Marty of Sand Springs, Okla., and Leah Beth Wilson and husband Beau of Prue, Okla.. Also surviving are six great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
