Anna M. “Ann” Knight, 84, a resident of Scranton passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.

 She was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Little Rock. Ann married J.D. Knight, Jr. in 1958 and lived the remainder of her life in Scranton, where they ran a cattle farm and raised three children.

Survivors include two sons, Joe and Roger Knight, both of Scranton; a daughter, Sonia Eckelhoff and husband, Will of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Kristie Eckelhoff and Derek Eckelhoff and wife, Katie; a great grandson, Henry Eckelhoff; a sister-in-law, Katsy Jones and husband, Winfred of Prairie View; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J.D. Knight, Jr. and her brother, Edmond Koerdt.

Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She served the community of Scranton when her children were younger, organizing and managing the 4-H Youth Program. She was always ready to volunteer in the schools and community of Scranton. She was a good neighbor and friend to many.

She was a member and past president of the Prairie View and Logan County Economic Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Orphan Train Riders Association and went to schools and organizations giving talks regarding the Orphan Train Riders. Her passion for this came from her mother, Rose, who came to Morrison Bluff on the Orphan Train from an orphanage in New York City. She was three years old and the Weisenfels family in Morrison Bluff gave Rose a loving home.

Ann was a member and secretary-treasurer for the Prairie View United Methodist Church for many years. Anyone that knew Ann knew she was a kind, sweet lady whose main goal in life was to make the world a better place for her family, friends and community.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Aaron Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery near Scranton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. Online guestbook available at
