Robert J. Koenig, 66, a resident of Subiaco passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, in Fort Smith.

He was born Sept. 25, 1950, in Monette, Mo. to the late Robert Edward and Freda Mary (Campbell) Koenig. Robert married Emma Sue Ihle on Sept. 27, 1969 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton. He retired from Whirlpool in Fort Smith as the Maintenance Manager after 39 years of service. Robert was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco and the Knights of Columbus Council 3787.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sue Koenig of Subiaco; a daughter, Amy Wilson and husband, Chad of Alma; a son, Scott Koenig and wife, Amber of Paris; five grandchildren, Hannah and Landon Wilson, Audrey and Dalton Koenig and Meleah Ahart; a sister, Carole Ann Koenig of Central City; a brother, Edward Koenig and wife, Sue of Subiaco; two uncles, Terry Campbell and wife, Kay of Monette, Mo. and Robert Campbell and wife, Helen of Pierce City, Mo.; two aunts, Carolyn Witt and husband, Jim of Monette, Mo. and Mary Ann Campbell of Pierce City, Mo. and a nephew, Josh Koenig of Charleston.

Rosary service will be held at 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the St. Benedict Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Online guestbook available at

Pallbearers will be Raymond Harrison, Daniel Schluterman, Anthony Frederick, Jerry Freeman, Larry Buck, James Green, Jim Fox and David Kremers. His grandchildren and his nephew, Josh Koenig will serve as honorary pallbearers.
