Jimmy Dearrl Gilbert, 79, who resided in Ratcliff, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, in Fort Smith. He was born April 19, 1938, in Oasis, Mo. to the late Riley W. Gilbert and Susie Bell (Carmichael) Gilbert. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Dewie, Doris, Kay, and Kirby.

Jimmy was a jack of all trades. He loved shoeing horses, sheering sheep and goats, and was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of Table Rock Sportsmen Association and a volunteer fireman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but one of his biggest love was sitting on the hillside and listening to his hound dogs run and drink coffee. Jimmy loved his kids and grandkids and they meant the world to him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Fletcher) Gilbert; one daughter, April Honea of Ratcliff; one son, Jimmy Gilbert of Alva, Okla.; five sisters, Glenda Driver of Rogers, Barbara Mason of Green Forest, Judy Meredith of Berryville, Deby Creager of Green Forest and Linda Cooksy of Greenland; three brothers, Shobie Gilbert of Glanea, Mo., Gereald Gilbert of Fayetteville and Tommy Mack Gilbert of Green Forest; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

There is no service scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
