Johnnie Lou Whitman, 68, of Charleston, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, in Fort Smith.
She was born Oct. 19, 1949, in Clarksville. to the late John Edgar Felkins and Rosa Mildred (Isely) Felkins.
She was a retired math teacher at Charleston High School. She also taught at Potosi, Missouri and at Morrilton. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, Mineral Area Junior College in Park Hills, Mo., and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and she was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Charleston.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1 at First United Methodist Church in Charleston. A private family burial will be at Oakland Memorial Cemetery in Clarksville, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ashley Whitman; her daughter Jana McCain og Mulberry; her son, John Whitman of Charleston; one sister, Kay Felkins of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Charles Felkins of Haskell and Paul Felkins of Fayetteville; six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Will Penny, Josh Ward, Ed Marion, Mickey Whitman, Duane Whitman, Todd Rasmussen, Henry Jones, and Bob Yarberry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Huggins, Steve Isely, and members of Ford Sunday School Class.
