James F. (Jim) Wald of Fort Smith died on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1918, to Fred and Mary Heilos Wald in Paris. He graduated from Paris High School, and entered the U.S. Army, on March, 15, 1941. He served in the World War II campaigns of North Africa, Naples-Loggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley. He earned four bronze stars and was honorably discharged on Oct. 20, 1945. James worked at Harding Glass Company, and was retired from, Temple Supply.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Helen Davis Wald, his parents, sisters, Catherine Wald, Regina Wald, Christine Wald, Josephine Dennis, Theresa Schmaltz, Billie Mariner, and Brothers, Al Wald, and Fred Wald.
He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Wald Woodard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 at 11 am at the Fort Smith National Cemetery with Rev. H.C. Varnadore officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
