Entering the Regional Tournament as a No. 4 seed means you have to play someone who just won their district title, and the Paris High School Lady Eagles opened last week’s Regional Tournament against Elkins in the opening win-or-go-home game.

After two scoreless innings, the Lady Eagles took the lead on a passed ball in the top the third. Elkins answered in the bottom half of the inning, and the game remained knotted at one until the top of the sixth, when Hannah Brewton drove in Macey Hurt on a line drive to left field.

The Lady Eagles had momentum and tacked on two more in the top of the seventh with an infield hit from Olivia Henderson and as single to center from Macey Harrison, each driving in a run. The defense would hold in the bottom half, and the Lady Eagles would pull off the upset win and advance to the State Tournament. Sydney Ward pitched a complete game two hitter, striking out five.

In the semifinals, Paris faced Atkins. The Lady Eagles played well, just not well enough to win in the second round. A speedy Atkins team sent the Lady Eagles to the third place matchup with a 5-1 loss.

The Lady Eagles face Mansfield in the third place game, determining seeding in the State Tournament. We will post results and brackets our Facebook page as soon as we have them.
