Scranton will be making a bid to win its second state title in three seasons.

The Lady Rockets scored two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings as they went on to edge Calico Rock, 4-3, in the 1A semifinals Monday afternoon in Pine Bluff.

Scranton (25-7) will now play in the 1A State Championship Game, set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Bogle Park on the University of Arkansas campus. The Lady Rockets will face Taylor, which defeated Mount Ida in Monday’s other semifinal.

In 2015, Scranton won state by defeating Concord, which then handed the Lady Rockets a loss in last season’s semifinals. The Lady Rockets then avenged that loss by beating Concord in the quarterfinals to set up the semifinal Monday.

Scranton scored two runs in the fifth. Rachel Siebenmorgen crossed home plate on a passed ball, and Kristy Geels’ RBI single brought in Kaitlin Lensing.

Then in the sixth, Kirklyn Kremers scored on an error, and Siebenmorgen picked up an RBI by driving home Alicia Gilliland.
