Subiaco Academy seniors Nsisong Archibong, Beau O’Neal, and Yusay Watanabe were recently selected to the 4A-1 All-Conference soccer team.
Archibong played sweeper on defense and was an opportunity goal scorer. He was instrumental in shutting out four of the Trojan opponents this season. O’Neal played both midfield and striker and led the team in both goals scored and assists as the total point leader for the Trojans. Watanabe played as the attacking midfielder and dictated the tempo of games with his ball control and key assists.
The Trojans ended their season with a 3-2 loss against Berryville. The Trojans were fierce competitors this season and were in the hunt for the state tournament until the last week of the season when the Trojans were defeated by the defending state champs, Dardanelle, in a weather make up game followed by the loss to Berryville the next day. The Trojans ended the year with eight victories and six losses.
Bergman forfeited a makeup game to be played on May 8, so the Trojans instead played the first annual seniors vs. underclassmen match in a symbolic passing of the baton to the underclassmen while giving the underclassmen one last shot at the seniors. The seniors were victorious by a score of 5-2.
