The Magazine Rattlers went into spring break a game under .500. They remedied that the first day back behind a 13 strike out complete game by Trevor Blake.

Though it was the Rattlers' eighth game, it was the fifth time Blake figured into the decision, improving his record to 3-2. Blake allowed only two hits, one of which didn’t leave the infield.

After Blake worked a 1-2-3 first the Rattlers took a 3-0 lead. Ethan Chenowith led off with a double against Ethan Gregory. After Matt Smith drew a walk both runners swiped bases. A throw down to third would go as one of five Dragon errors on the day, allowing Chenowith to score.

Smith scored when Randon Baumgartner, who had walked, was stealing and Gregory threw a wild pitch. Jack Kirbo followed with an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.

An inning later Jacob Hall led off with a walk and was at second after Beau Shott grounded out. A single by Chenowith scored Hall and when the ball was misplayed in the outfield Chenowith circled the bases, only to be thrown out at home.

The Rattlers loaded the bases in the third on an error, a walk and a hit batter but Gregory got out of it with a ground ball from Shott. Gregoy had throw 82 pitches to that point and was finished.

Luke Rose threw the final three innings, allowing no runs and just two hits.

Winston Shepherd tripled with one out in the fourth but he was out at the plate trying to score on a ground ball by Gauge Jorgenson.

Three two out errors — two on one play — led to a Dragon run in the sixth, but Blake got Jorgenson to fly out to end the inning and worked a 1-2-3 seventh.
