Playing their fifth match in eight days, the Subiaco Academy Trojans soccer team traveled to Lead Hill to take on the Tigers on April 17.
The Trojans started aggressively and scored their first goal in less than a minute with a strike from Mark Popov from an assist provided by Aidan Everett. The Trojans maintained the pressure and scored three more goals in the next four minutes to take a commanding lead. The Trojans led 9-1 at the half and won in a shortened game by a score of 13-2.
Ty Moran led Trojan scoring with three goals and Mark Popov and Won Young Choe each scored two.
The Trojans traveled to Dardanelle on April 16 to take on the two-time defending state champs. The Trojans battled hard but lost the match by a score of 5-1. The Trojans scored one of only two goals that have been scored against Dardanelle in conference play this season when Mark Popov outran the Dardanelle defender to tap in Won Young Choe’s crossing pass. Jonathan Robinson had six saves against the talented Dardanelle squad.
