The Paris Lady Eagles volleyball team got off to a strong start in regular season action.

They opened at Lavaca on Monday night, pulling out a straight sets win, though Lavaca did keep it close all night.

A night later, Paris hosted their home opener against 4A Pea Ridge, taking control early en route to a straight sets win.

The junior high would keep the coaching staff busy, traveling to Greenwood on Wednesday night to play. The Junior High Lady Eagles took it to 6A Greenwood, winning the night and drawing plenty of attention for their efforts.

Thursday evening, the Lady Eagles made a long road trip to Mena, and it was a tough night. Paris lost the two opening sets before pulling out a third set win 32-30. After surviving numerous match points to take the set, Paris won the next two and the game 3-2.

They would have Friday evening off but would be back at the school early Saturday morning to head to Alma for tournament play. They would take down Lavaca, Prairie Grove, and Huntsville in pool play. The Lady Eagles took down Farmington in the semi-finals and faced host Almainthe finals.

Paris took the first set in commanding fashion, but dropped the second, setting up a winner take all 15-point third set. The Lady Eagles kept it close throughout, but dropped the finals match 15-12, finishing as the runner-up.

The Lady Eagles were not pleased with their performance in the opening week, though most would consider defeating multiple larger schools a good seven days. They will have little time to prep for another busy week, hosting two larger schools Monday and Tuesday. In a game that has become somewhat of a rivalry, Russellville will come to town first, and Elkins will follow on Tuesday. Thursday, the Lady Eagles will make the short drive to Charleston for their final match of the week.
