The Paris Lady Eagles opened the week with their toughest challenge of the season.
They traveled to Shiloh Christian to face one of the top-ranked teams in 4A classification.
Paris came out hot and rattled off seven straight points to force the Saints into a timeout. From there, Shiloh made enough changes to get themselves back in the set and eventually held on to rally for a 25-23 set win. They took the second set from the Lady Eagles before Paris rallied back in the third for a win. However, Shiloh would pull away for 4th set win and hand the Lady Eagles their first non-tournament loss of the season.
They had very little time to regroup, as a very tough Mansfield team was coming to Paris on Tuesday night. This time, the Lady Eagles left no doubt, as they took down Mansfield in straight sets.
When Booneville came to town on Thursday, it was more of the same. Three sets and take it to the house. The Lady Eagles found their groove just in time for the Lady Eagle Invitational, the tournament they host each year. It is also a tournament they have never won.
After winning their pool play, they advanced to the Gold Bracket with a tough slate of game in front of them. They took down Pulaski Academy in the opening round, and then swept Mena to set up a finals match against 6A Rogers Heritage.
The Lady Eagles never let up and swept their opponents to the first ever Lady Eagle Invitational championship. With a week left in their season and only an away game at Lincoln before hosting Waldron in the regular season finale, the Lady Eagles are focused on the goal of a fourth straight state championship.
