The Greenwood Lady Bulldogs had a decisive opening-round win at the 5A State Tournament in Jonesboro, sweeping Little Rock Parkview in three sets, 25-5, 25-5, 25-7.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs (28-5-1) advance to the 5A quarterfinals, and will play at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
After Parkview scored the opening point of the match, Greenwood responded with seven straight points. Camryn Presley had two kills and a block during that stretch, which was capped by an ace from Josie Chapple.
Later, another kill from Presley extended the lead to 15-4 and Greenwood wrapped up the opening set with a successful block by Abby Cagle.
Cagle then opened the second set with a kill, and Greenwood went on to build a commanding 9-0 advantage, which featured four kills from Presley along with an ace by Anna Johnson.
The Lady Bulldogs finished off the second set after back-to-back aces from Sami Stilley.
In the third set, Greenwood raced out to a 10-1 lead. It later grew to 19-5 following consecutive aces by Izzy Davis.
For the match, the Lady Bulldogs recorded nine aces, with Stilley responsible for three of those.
Cagle ended up with 10 kills and a block while Presley and Zoie Benton each added nine kills. Larkin Luke finished with four kills and a block as well.
