Dalton Nehus reached on an error to begin the game against the Mansfield Tigers and later came around to score giving the Eagle baseball team a lead that they would never relinquish as they captured a 10–8 victory over the Tigers in conference play.

After reaching on the error, Nehus stole second and then scored when Gage Hampton laid down a bunt that was thrown into right field scoring Nehus and putting Hampton at second.

Paris tacked on four more runs in the top of the second. Casey Dishongh led off with a line drive single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and third on Trey Dewitt’s bunt single. Payton McClure took first after getting hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Nehus then hit a hard ground ball single to center field scoring Dishongh and Dewitt while McClure was thrown out trying to take third. Hampton came through again with a double that scored Nehus. Carlos Guaderrama hit a long fly to center moving Hampton to third and then David Buchanan reached on an error by the Tiger right fielder as Hampton scored giving Paris a 5–0 lead.

Mansfield got their first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Barnard reached on an error, Patterson followed with a single and both players advanced on an error by Paris’ Guaderrama. Alderson grounded out to shortstop as Barnard scored and Patterson stop at third. Dake and Nicodemus flied out to center field scoring Patterson to bring the score to 5–2.

McClure drew a lead off walk to begin the fourth and Nehus reached on an error by Nicodemus putting runners at first and second for the Eagles. With two outs, Buchanan stepped to the plate and singled to advance the runners who then scored on a throwing error by the Tigers. Andy Trusty doubled to left putting Buchanan on third and himself on second. Jordyn Coronado then reached on an error and Buchanan scored while Trusty advanced to third. Trusty then stole third and Dishongh drew a walk to load up the bases. Dewitt struck out swinging leaving the sacks jammed but the Eagles improved their lead to 8–2.

Mansfield came back in the bottom of the fourth with three runs of their own. Back to back singles and a throwing error allowed the Tigers to plate two runs. A passed ball with runners at second and third allowed the third run of the inning for the Tigers who cut the Eagles’ lead to just three with a score of 8–5.

Paris got one of those runs back in the top of the fifth. McClure led off with a single to left, Nehus grounded out to the pitcher and McClure advanced to second. Hampton singled to right and McClure came around to score giving the Eagles a 9–5 lead.

The Eagles added their final run of the game in the top of the sixth inning. Coronado singled with one out and Grant Hutson came in as a courtesy runner. Hutson stole second and then Dishongh singled to right to score Hutson giving the Eagles a 10–5 lead with six outs to get for the win.

Mansfield went on a scoring run in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a single, a double, and four passed balls. Fortunately, the Eagles kept their composure and got Mathis to ground out to second to end the game with the Eagles on top 10–8.
