Multiple errors in multiple innings opened up the door for the Atkins Red Devils who scored 12 runs on their way to handing the Paris Eagles a 12–1 loss last week at Legion Field in Paris.
Errors and passed balls in the second inning allowed the Red Devils who got two hits in the inning to put five runs on the board, which would prove to be enough as the Eagles could not get their offense going until late in the game.
Atkins added a single run in the fourth inning when Spradlin reached on an error and then moved to third on a single by Ennis. Duvall followed with another single and Spradlin gave the Red Devils a 6–0 lead.
The wheels fell off the bus in the top of the seventh as the Red Devils took advantage of multiple Eagle errors and put together a few hits to score six runs and take a 12–0 lead with the Eagles three outs from a shutout.
Payton McClure led off the top of the seventh with a walk and Ethan Mosley doubled to move McClure to third. A throwing error on the Red Devils allowed McClure to come on home to score Paris’ lone run of the game and avoid to shutout.
Baring any wet weather, the Eagles will be back on the field to take on the Mansfield Tigers and the Charleston Tigers in two very important conference games.
