On Wednesday, Feb. 21, the Paris Planning and Zoning Commission will meet to consider granting demolition and building permits for a Casey’s General Store on two lots at 406 East Walnut and 407 Pine Street, according to commission chairman Eric Wells.
The lots involved were formerly occupied by Medi-Quick Pharmacy.
Wells said Casey’s plans to build a 3,588 square foot store on the lots. The store will have 10 gas pumps.
Wells said the Planning and Zoning Commission was contacted in November by a real estate company located in Little Rock about the properties. Wells said after that contact, he met with representatives with the company and their engineering firm for a preliminary conversation.
“I suspect that we’ll see their engineer and a representative of the company at the meeting,” Wells said.
The meeting will take place at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council meeting room at the Municipal Building. The meeting is open to the public.
“My understanding is that if the permits are granted, construction probably won’t begin until late March or April,” Wells said.
Casey’s General Stores have 2,000 locations in 15 sates, mostly in the midwest and plains states. The company is headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines.
