The Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency has announced the hiring of Brad Williams as its executive director. Williams, who will have the daily oversight of the Central City Urban Renewal Plan, begins his official duties Monday, April 16.

The Central City Urban Renewal Plan will be used to assist in the revitalization of the central part of the city through the elimination of blight that impedes the redevelopment and reuse of commercial and residential properties in the area, according to a news release.

A Little Rock native, Williams and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Yale University. He has been executive director for the Argenta Community Development Corp. and the Arkansas Literacy Councils, and was the foundation executive director of Munro and Co. Inc.

Williams has also been a director of special projects and government affairs with Munro and Co. He has held leadership positions with non-profit organizations serving rural development focused on the Delta and child and youth leadership, according to the release.

Williams is a former chairman of the board for Arkansas Coalition for Excellence, Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, Central Business Improvement District 31 and former board member of Campaign for Community Change (Washington, D.C.), Foundation for the Mid South (Jackson, Miss.), Winrock International, Arkansas' Independent Colleges and Universities, Arkansas Museum of Discovery and former advisory board member of Garvan Woodland Gardens.

Williams will play a role in the public meetings announced recently by the Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency for comments and questions, about the Central City Urban Renewal Plan. Poplar St., Tuesday, April 24, 5:30 p.m.; Pine Hill Baptist Church (Ward 4), 2101 W. Reeker St., Thursday, April 26, 5:30 p.m.; New St. Hurricane Baptist Church (Ward 1), 3319 S.
