1 Jazz Festival: Fifteen jazz groups will perform at the Van Buren Freedom Park, located at 833 Main Street, on Friday and Saturday. The two-day event, sponsored by the Arkansas Jazz Educators kicks off at 3:30 p.m., Friday and concludes Saturday with a performance by the Jake Hertzog Trio. The concerts are free and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. Food truck vendors will also be on hand.

2 Cinderella: The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Cinderella, written by the legendary musical duo Rodgers and Hammerstein, will come to Fort Smith for a performance at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 23 as part of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith’s Season of Entertainment 37. The show will take place in the ArcBest Corp. Performing Arts Center in the Fort Smith Convention Center, located at 55 South 7th Street. Tickets are $47 or $50 depending on seating tier. 3 Off season theatre: Mythical Creatures and How to Approach Them, written by Travis Greisler will be presented by the Fort Smith Little Theater as an off season production, presented in association with Playscripts, Inc., Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. When two students at a magic school go abroad to study mythical creatures, they discover a whole new level of the unpredictable — from a sassy unicorn to a lovelorn griffin. A fantastical parody of wizarding hilarity. Off-season productions are not part of the season ticket purchased. There are no reservation required. Tickets are first-come, first-served at $5 per ticket.
