The Paris Area Chamber of Commerce is honoring teachers and staff of the Paris School District and St. Joseph Catholic School this month.

Teacher appreciation week runs through Saturday.

The chamber is currently selling yard signs honoring teachers and staff for $10.

“We’re still taking orders because we want the signs to stay up through the end of May,” PACC Executive Director Tonya Baumgartner said last week. “We’ve sold about 30 so far. The signs can be re-used year after year.”

To order signs, go by the chamber office or call Baumgartner at 963-2244.

On May 22, area teachers and staff of the Paris School District will be honored by a luncheon provided by the district. The PACC will be doing the door prizes for the luncheon. The door prizes are being provided by sponsors, Baumgartner said.

“Right now, we have about 60 door prizes that have been donated,” she said. “The goal is to get 100. Sponsors are being asked to provide four door prizes each. We will also have a grand prize winner at the event.”

On May 29, the chamber is going to honor teachers and staff of St. Joseph Catholic School in Paris by serving them breakfast. Baumgartner said the meat for the meal will be prepared by The Grapevine Restaurant in Paris. Door prizes will be given to teachers and staff at the school, as well.

If you would like to donate door prizes for these events, call Baumgartner at 963-2244.

This year’s events honoring teachers and staff are different from the past. Previously, the PACC hosted an event at the First National Bank Community Center and various businesses donated prizes and decorated tables for those being honored.

“This year, we’re going to the teachers and staff rather than asking them to come to the community center,” Baumgartner said. “The feedback I’ve gotten so far has been very positive.”
