Rose Louise Roberson Potter, formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas was born on October 31, 1920, in Lonoke County Arkansas to Lee Andrew and Elizabeth Grace Deaton Roberson. She passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 97.

Louise was raised on the family farm in Lonoke County, Arkansas where she gained her love for growing plants of all kinds. She began her education in a one room schoolhouse where her mother, Betty, taught all grades.

Louise worked as a bookkeeper for EB and FR Bloom Insurance Agency and Muffler King, both of Pine Bluff. She also worked various retail positions for shops around Pine Bluff. Later in life, she enjoyed working as a “Demo Lady” giving samples at local grocery stores.

Her pride at home was always her garden and yard. Louise enjoyed planting and tending to many types of flowers and plants, as well as harvesting Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans, cucumbers, and watermelons. She also enjoyed feeding the various birds that would frequent her yard. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominos with friends in Pine Bluff and in Searcy.

Louise was involved in many service clubs, activities, and projects over the years. She co-taught Sunday School class at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers Robert and Joe Henry; and sisters Annette, Kathleen, Betty Jane.

Louise is survived by two children: a daughter, LuAnn (Larry) Launius of Searcy, AR; and a son, Larry (Stacy) Potter of Pine Bluff, AR. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Christy (Edward) Deneke of Ypsilanti, MI; Jennifer (Bryan) Shank of Searcy, AR; Sarah (Seth) Heird of Benton, AR; and Blake Potter of Pine Bluff, AR; as well as great-grandchildren Alexandra and Westley Deneke and Harper Shank.

Private graveside services for the family will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home in Searcy.

Anthony Ashcraft

Grapevine - Anthony Wayne Ashcraft of Grapevine, (AR) was born Nov. 4, 1954 and departed this life on Saturday, Sep. 8, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer. His parents are (the late) Harold and Marilyn Gwin Ashcraft. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1974 and served in the US Army. A skilled mechanic, he was employed with the US Army at the Pine Bluff Arsenal.

Survivors: Wife, Vivian Ashcraft, sons Tony Ashcraft and Curtis Law, 6 grandchildren, brothers Earl Ray and Bobby, sister Carolyn.

The memorial service will be held at Calvary MB Church (152 County Road 63) in Sheridan on Wednesday, Sep. 12, at 2 p.m. Visitation with the family will be held immediately after the service.

Don Luker

Dumas - Don Ray Luker, 69, of Dumas Arkansas went to go be with the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2018. Born May 6, 1940 in Dumas Arkansas. He was the son of Alma Venable Luker and the Late Charles Ray Luker of Dumas, Arkansas. Also preceding him in death was two brothers Tommie Darrell Luker, Raymond Neal Luker, and one sister Donnie Marie Luker. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, he was baptized at an early age. He loved horseback riding spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors included: his wife Barbara Bryant Luker, mother Alma Luker, one son Jerry Don Luker of Watson, Arkansas, one daughter Patricia Ann Luker, of Arkansas. 7 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren, 2 brother Lonnie Ned Luker (Linda) of Union Mississippi, David Earl Luker (Teena) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 2 sisters Brenda Lou Goodnight (Tommy) of Star City Arkansas and Lois Jane Brockling (Paul) of Rison Arkansas.

Memorial service will be held Northside Baptist Church in Dumas Arkansas on Saturday September 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm.

North Little Rock - Billie D. Kalkbrenner, 91, of North Little Rock (formerly of Pine Bluff), passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.

Mrs. Kalkbrenner was born on December 31, 1926, in Malden, Missouri, to the late Oscar and Hattie Mae Tompson Hutchcraft. She was reared and received her education in Malden, Missouri, where she graduated from Malden High School.

Mrs. Kalkbrenner was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.

Her survivors include her son, David Kalkbrenner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Christy (Bob) Rhoads of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Carson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jonathan Carson of North Little Rock, Kent Kalkbrenner of Ft.Worth, Texas and Kyle (Wendy) Kalkbrenner of North Little Rock; two great-grandchildren, Nora Carson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kohen Kalkbrenner of North Little Rock; and her brother, Floyd Hutchcraft.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Loys Kalkbrenner; brother, Everett Hutchcraft and sister, Elsie Craig.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 2:00PM, at Brown Cemetery in Jefferson County with Reverend Edna Morgan officiating.
