According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop for a vehicle driving left of center ended with two subjects being charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. On April 25 LCSO Deputy Lee Cooper stopped a vehicle in Booneville for driving left of center. The driver, Chad Looper, 44, had a suspended driver’s license and his passenger, Jordan Kennedy, 25, was on parole. Deputy Cooper and Sgt. Lane Mathews searched the vehicle and found approximately 160 grams of a crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamines, 11 grams of suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, including syringes, scales, and baggies, and $4,897.00 in cash. Looper and Kennedy were arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.
Sheriff Jason Massey said that he does not feel that the drug arrests are lower than this time last year and that the LCSO continues their effort of identifying the drug dealers, sharing the information, and then following up with traffic stops and using informants. “We are making traffic stops, following up on information that we receive, sharing information with other law enforcement agencies including Probation and Parole, and working with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on these cases.” D e p u t y B r e t t Chappell also assisted on the arrest.
