You would be hard-pressed to find a pool to swim in during the winter in Logan County, but that hasn’t stopped local students from competing at a high level and representing their schools to the State Swim Meet in Northwest Arkansas this last weekend. The students swim for different league teams year-round, often driving over 30 minutes to get time in the pool.
At the State meet, Junior Ethan Spillers finished second in the 100 butterfly and second in the 100 breaststroke representing Subiaco Academy. From Scranton, Junior Matthew Shelton finished third in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 500 freestyle. Isabel Shelton finished fourth in the 500 freestyle, all of which were medal finishes for the athletes. Isabel also finished ninth in the 100 breaststroke and Paris Sophomore Lindsey Ward finished eighth in the 200 Individual Medley and eleventh in the 500 freestyle. Keller Keen, a Sophomore from Paris finished eleventh in the 100 freestyle.
