The Paris Arts Center Board met on June 5, 2020. Linda Hamilton, PAC Director, provided a financial report to the members. The 2020-2021 officers are: Amber Mikles - President, Darlene Hudson – Treasurer, and Glenda Ezell – Interim Secretary. The COVID 19 pandemic forced the center to cancel all its meetings, fundraisers, and activities; thereby, decreasing revenue. The board discussed several options to raise funds. Amber Mikles, President of PAC, discussed grant opportunities. She is exploring possible grants that align with the mission of PAC. Amber provided an update on the status of PAC’s 501C status. The board agreed to separate PAC from the Union School Project. The missions of the two entities are different; yet, equally important to this community. The consensus of the board was that there are more grant opportunities available for each project if they maintain true to their specific mission and identity. Glenda Ezell and Sonya Chilton will work specifically on projects and fundraisers for the Union School.

The board discussed finding a permanent location for PAC. Although a downtown location would be ideal, the board discussed other viable locations. Funding for the purchase of a location would be primarily from grants, fundraisers, and memberships.

Amber Mikles is creating a website and will create a video -taped tour of the PAC center and feature biographies of area artists.

The board approved partial re-opening this month, following CDC guidelines. Adult painting classes will reopen on June 18th from 10-4. No more than 10 will be allowed at a time until further notice. A Paint Party will be held on June 27th with Amber Mikles teaching the sessions. Two sessions will be held: 10:00 - 12:00 and 6:00 - 8:00. Volunteers will clean/sanitize between the sessions. Advanced registration is required with a maximum of 10 in each session. The price is $25.00. All supplies will be included and a snack will be provided. Linda Hamilton will teach a class on August 1 for children. Each child will create a terrarium. CDC guidelines will be followed. Prior registration will be required and all supplies will be included. Workshops at the Union School were also discussed and will be scheduled in the upcoming months. The next Ladies Night Out is scheduled for September 3.
