LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the fifth time in the last six years, the Arkansas Tech volleyball team has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award as the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Monday. Additionally, the Golden Suns once more were named to the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll.
"We are very proud of the girls and their accomplishments in the classroom, especially with as unpredictable as the spring was due to the pandemic," remarked head volleyball coach Kera Dukic. "They prove time and time again that they truly care about their academics and are able to make adjustments and adapt when needed. This award deserves to be recognized and celebrated as much as a win on the court."
The Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. This year's Honor Roll distinction for NCAA Division II was bestowed upon the volleyball teams with the top 36 GPAs within DII.
The Suns are coming off of their second-straight winning season under head coach Kera Dukic.
