The Logan County Fair in Paris opened Tuesday at the fair grounds located adjacent to the Paris-Subiaco Municipal Airport on Highway 22, east of Paris.

The event kicks into high gear today (Wednesday.) The North Logan County Ministerial Alliance will hold a worship service at the fairgrounds at 7 p.m. There is no fee to enter the fairgrounds today (Wednesday). There is a $2 entry fee charged Thursday through Saturday.

The midway, provided by Johnson Rides and Concessions of El Dorado, will be open from Wednesday through Saturday. Armbands will be available each night.

On Thursday and Friday, Aug. 15 and 16, entertainment will be presented at 7 p.m. The Junior Premium Auction will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. The Paris School District’s FFA group will stage a livestock show at 5 p.m. Thursday. The FFA group will sponsor a petting zoo Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, a youth pet show takes place at 10 a.m., a talent show takes place at 2 p.m., trophies will be presented at 4 p.m. and the annual Chuckwagon Dinner takes placed from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The new events include a wine making competition, the addition of action photos in black and white to the photography contest, a pin cushion event has been added as well as gourd painting.

The Logan County Fair Pageant was held last Saturday at the Paris Middle School Auditorium. Winners will crowned in six categories. The Pageant was split this year with three winners chosen in a minoring event and three chosen in an evening event.

The winners are:

• Tiny Miss: Taylor Danekas, the four year old daughter of C. J. and Chelsea Danekas from Booneville;

• Teeny Miss: Aubree Grace Lowe, the six and 1/2 month old daughter of Dylan and Kailey Lowe from Paris;

• Little Miss: Kirsten Cheyenne Schneider, the six year old daughter of Chris and Tammy Schneider from Paris;

• Morning Crowd Favorite: Camrie Brooks Day, the daughter of Josh Day and Kendra Rambo;

• Fair Sweetheart: Maybree Kristian Adams,the 11 year old daughter of Chris and Misty Adams from Paris;

• Fair Princess: Tessie Luttrell, the 15 year old daughter of Kim Hicks and Jimmy Luttrell from Paris. Tessie will be competing in the Arkansas State Junior Fair Queen Pageant in October.

• Fair Queen: Whitney Nicole Schneider is the 17 year old daughter of Chris and Tammy Schneider from Paris. She will be competing in the Arkansas State Fair Queen Pageant in October.

• Night Crowd Favorite: Rebecca Jane Hatcher, the 15 year old daughter of Mark and Evelyn Hatcher from Paris.
