Eugene Hayward, 94, of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Clarksville.

He was born on September 27, 1923 in Scranton to his parents Frank and Millie (Stovall) Hayward. Eugene was a devoted family man, who worked 25 years as a machinist for Cloyes Gear Company and also worked on the farm picking cotton or planting a garden to help provide for his family. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, receiving the bronze star, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and three Overseas bars for his service. In his spare time Eugene loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Millie (Stovall) Hayward; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dortha Mae (Gray) Hayward; one son, Terrence Hayward and wife, Diana of Kibler, Arkansas; two daughters, Donna Henderson and husband, Jimmy Allen of Scranton, Arkansas, Janet Grissom and husband, Paul also of Scranton, Arkansas; six grand children, Liz Needham Porter, Jeff Henderson, Scott Henderson, Michelle Hayward Anderson, Chris Stovall and Erin Stovall; 10 great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Dublin Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Wares Chapel Cemetery in Scranton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. Online guestbook at
