Rattlers 2 Hackett 1

After Randon Baumgartner ran out of pitches Trevor Blake(5-4) relieved him and finished the top of the eighth.

With one out in the home half of the eighth Matt Smith reach on a strike out, stole second and third and Hackett intentionally walked Baumgartner and Pacen Roberson to load the bases.

That brought up Jacob Hall who was 2-for-3 in the game. Hall in position to try to put a bunt down to win it but missed the ball, as did the Hackett catcher and Smith scored as the ball rolled to the screen.

Hackett argued the ball had been fouled off but both officials agreed it was a passed ball. Hall said after the game he missed the bunt.

Hall had singled in the second and was erased on a fielder’s choice by Jack Kirbo. In the fourth he singled again, driving in Roberson who had singled behind Baumgartner but Baumgartner rounded second too far and was thrown out. Roberson then moved to second on a wild pitch before Hall tied the game.

Hackett had taken a 1-0 lead in their third. With one down Christian McKee singled and Bradley Marting beat out a bunt to move him over. Baumgartner walked Tyler Edwards before striking out Trevon Blanton. However Brooks Wilson drew a walk to force in McKee. Baumgartner fanned Matthew Moran to leave the bases loaded.

Lavaca 6 Rattlers 2

Trevor Blake threw a complete game but took a loss against Lavaca for the third time, falling to 5-5 for the year. He allowed eight hits.

The Rattlers took a 1-0 lead in the first. Ethan Chenowith led off with a single and Blake was hit by a pitch. Matt Smith bunted to move the runners into scoring position and Randon Baumgartner lifted a fly ball off of Draven Gill to score the run. Gill would throw a wild pitch during a walk of Pacen Roberson but he struck out Jacob Hall to end the inning.

Martin Lozana singled leading off the game for Lavaca. He stole second and scored on a single by Tripp Lile to tie the game.

The Rattlers committed their second error of the game in the third, allowing Colby Clunn to reach and Andrew Wright tripled. A sacrifice fly by Tyler Hobbs made it 3-1. The Arrows got a single from Joshua Houpt and a walk by Lozano before a fly out that became a double play when Houpt left early.

A two out single by Lozano drove in a run in the fourth to make it 4-1.

With two down in the sixth Blake was hit by a pitch, by Jimmy Hall, who threw three innings to save it for Gill. After Smith walked, Baumgartner singled home Blake to make it 4-2. Hall got out of the inning by snagging a line drive from Roberson.

In the Lavaca sixth Hobbs tripled with one out but Houpt stuck out for the second out and head coach Randy Loyd opted to put Lozano on first. Lozana stole second before Gill, hitless to that point, singled both home to make it 6-2.
