Paris welcomed in the top team in the state for an old rivalry renewed as Booneville came to town Friday night.
The teams have not played since the Paris win in 2015 while Booneville played in the 4-A classification since. They would likely be a title contender in the larger classification again this year, but they are in the 3-A West and running their way through the opposition.
The conditions were simply miserable. The cold rain seemed to never let up. Booneville did not score till near halfway in the first quarter, but the next 10 minutes of game time would see the Bearcats pull out to a 41-0 lead on the Eagles. Booneville got the edge and the Eagles could not contain them. Booneville only scored one time from inside the red zone as they rushed for 314 yards and six touchdowns in the 48-0 loss for the Eagles.
The Paris offense managed just 65 yards on the ground and 26 through the air as they found themselves in a hole early. Adam Chandler and Anthony Potts each had seven tackles to lead the Eagles defensively.
Paris, (0-4) will travel to Lamar next Friday night to take on the undefeated Warriors.
