The Mena Bearcats used a stout run defense to stymie the Subiaco Junior High Trojans on Monday night, Oct. 28 and got a 20-8 victory.

The young Bearcats held the Trojans in check throughout as the Trojans posted a minus 28 yards rushing overall. The Bearcats would out gain the Trojans 191-97 in the game.

The passing game did hold some bright spots for Subiaco, as they finished the season at 3-2. Quarterback Ryan King ended the contest completing seven of 13 passes for 99 yards and one interception. Halfback Zach Franz went two of two passing totaling 26 yards with both passes to running back Alex Snow. One was for a 16-yard touchdown.

Reception numbers on the evening were as follows: Seth Kupers had three for 50 yards, Snow had three totaling 42 yards, Hunter Shaw hauled in two passes for 25 yards and Franz had one for eight yards.

Defensive leaders for the Trojans were Zach Franz, credited with eight tackles (four were solo tackles), Aaron Brooks with 4.5 tackles, followed by Grayson Brown and Sampras Helton contributing four tackles each. Nick Charbonnet chipped in 3.5 tackles to help the defensive effort.
