The Paris Junior Eagles ran their season record to 6-1 and their conference record to 4-1 with a 44-8 whipping of the Ceadarville Junior Pirates Thursday night.

The scoring parade started early, too.

Kris Graham took the opening kick off 68 yards for a touchdown. Preston Drewry hit Tanner Phillips for the two point conversion and it was 8-0.

Early in the second quarter, Paris was ahead 30-0 and coaches agreed to run the clock continuously under the Arkansas Activities Association’s mercy rule.

The Paris first-team offense only ran seven plays in the game but scored three times.

Cole Norton got a touchdown on a seven-yard pass from Drewry. Drewry later threw a 34-yard pass to Tanner Phillips. Nate Davidson intercepted the Cedarville quarterback and returned the ball 44 yards for a touchdown. After the second unit offense went into the game, Demond Thomas scored on a 65-yard run. Dakovan Wise also scored on a 27-yard run.

The Paris offense snapped the ball 17 times for 223 yards. That’s 13 yards for every snap of the ball.

Defensively, Aaron Sheffield had four tackles and Will Howard had three tackles and a fumble recovery.

Cedarville was able to get 148 yards offensively, but most of that came against the second team Paris defense. For example, Cedarville completed eight passes in the game for 122 yards and a score but only completed two passes against the first team defense.

"Our players have really bought into what we’re doing and teaching," Paris Coach Marc Tucker said. "They really enjoy playing the game."

The Paris seventh grade team also defeated Cedarville Thursday night, 30-0, to remain undefeated.

Next week, Paris travels to Atkins. The game will be played on Tuesday instead of Thursday. Kick off for the seventh grade game is 5:30 p.m. Kick off for the junior game is 7 p.m.
