The Paris High School track team will go for three district titles in a row Friday when the 4-3A District Track meet is held at Eagles Stadium on the PHS campus.

Track coach Kelly Edwards feels good about his teams chances.

"I feel good about our chances as long as our athletes keep doing what they’ve been doing all year and I think they will," Edwards said.

"This is a real good group of kids," Edwards said. "Our senior class won district as juniors and sophomores and they won the junior high district as ninth graders," Edwards said. "We’ve also got a good group of underclassmen who have contributed a lot."

The PHS track team won three meets this year — the Eagle Relays, the Waldron Bulldog Relays and the Boooneville Bearcat Relays.

Also, several members of the team are ranked first, second or third in the state in their events.

They are

• Justin Estala, ranked first in the state in the pole vault with a best vault of 16-feet-4 inches;

• Kyeran Hurley and Ryan Brown, tied for third in the state in the high jump with a best jump of 6-foot-3;

• Casey Dishongh, ranked second in the state in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.27 seconds.

Five members of the team have pre-qualified for spots in the 3A state meet. They are Estala, Hurley, Brown, Dishongh and Ryan Spencer in the discus.

The top two in each event at the district meet will advance to the state meet, which will be held May 2 at Green Forest.

Seven teams will be in Paris for the District Track Meet. They are bringing between 150 and 200 competitors.

Paris also hosted the junior high district track meet Tuesday.
