With anyone over 16 now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine anywhere in America, states are ramping up the distribution of vaccines but Arkansas is lagging behind and ranks 46th in the nation for the number of adults being fully vaccinated, according to a QuoteWizard study.

The study from QuoteWizard dated April 15 states Arkansas had a 19% fully vaccinated rate, but an April 19 report from the Arkansas Department of Health shows that more than 26% of those over 16 years of age have been fully vaccinated.

According to the study by QuoteWizard, the national average of fully vaccinated adults stands at 22%, which is lower than what the ADH reports for the state of Arkansas. According to the NPR vaccine tracker, the number of Americans vaccinated is 24.3%.

The discrepancy can be partially dismissed by the three-day difference and even more by the fact that QuoteWizard looked at those over 18 while ADH took 16 and 17-year-olds into account. However, this cannot account for the difference of more than 7%, or 166,000, adults.

The QuoteWizard study also notes that nearly 80% of distributed vaccines have been administered in the country. According to the latest ADH information, Arkansas has administered 68% of the vaccines the state has received.

• Sebastian County has 16% of the more than 100,000 adults have been fully vaccinated while another 6% have received one dose.

• Crawford county has 19% of the nearly 50,000 adults fully vaccinated and another 8% have been partially vaccinated.

• Franklin County, 28% of the 14,000 residents over 16 have been fully vaccinated and 8% more have received the first dose of the vaccine.

• Logan County stands at 23% of the more than 17,000 adults being fully vaccinated and 8% having been partially vaccinated.

• In Baxter County, 15% of the approximately 35,000 resident adults having received both doses of the vaccine while there are 16% more waiting on the second dose.

The general pattern of vaccinations, according to the QuoteWizard study, is that southern states have lower vaccination rates. The highest-ranking state in this study is Kentucky at 19th with 24% of the population vaccinated. However, since the ADH reports that 26% of Arkansans have been fully vaccinated, it is uncertain what the standings are currently.
